How you can make your mark

As a Systems Engineer at the Global Engineering department of Boskalis Offshore, you are the link between project management and the disciplines of design, engineering and implementation. You take on project management for our renewables projects. The role of Systems Engineer is emerging within Offshore Energy, which allows you to shape the processes yourself in collaboration with your colleagues. You oversee the project processes and improve and renew them if necessary at department level. You are pragmatic and easily make contact with people and business operations. 

Your goal is to establish and maintain an overview of key project management structures and all interconnected process deliverables, such as requirements, risks, contract clarifications and other aspects, within a centralized project management environment. Thanks to your proactive attitude, you ensure that the agreed deadlines are met and that no one struggles or loses the overview. You are someone who sees multiple ways to achieve your goal and is not distracted by resistance or opposition. 
 
Your responsibilities as a systems engineer 

  • You are the owner of the Systems Engineering process within Offshore and actively come up with improvement proposals aimed at the content, the process, and the users 

  • Implementing the systems engineering process on a tender or project in close consultation with the tender/project manager. 

  • Creating awareness among the tender and project team about systems engineering. 

  • Setting up Relatics (i.e., systems engineering tool) to support the execution of the systems engineering process. 

  • Structuring received contract information and guiding the tender or project team in specifying and analyzing this information. 

  • Providing support in preparing/developing Breakdowns (Systems Breakdown Structure and Work Breakdown Structure). 

  • Reviewing whether the contract requirements and specifications are fully considered by the Tender or Project team (i.e., Requirements Management). 

  • Where necessary, adapting screens and views (tables and queries) in Relatics for optimal execution of the Systems engineering process and related processes. 

  • Create dashboards in PowerBI for different disciplines and user types 

Your qualities and experience 
You can move ahead as a systems engineer if you have: 

  • At least 3 years of working experience as a Systems Engineer;

  • An academic degree in Engineering or Technical Business Administration;

  • Familiar with Relatics or other comparable requirement management software; 

  • You have experience with relational databases and working with Power BI;

  • You have experience working on tenders and projects in progress and understand the dynamics of project work; 

  • Proactive attitude;

  • Analytical skills and a broad view, always looking beyond your own discipline;

  • Fluent in English.

Extra information 

  • Your team: You are part of the System Engineering team within the Offshore Energy Global Engineering division. The team consists of 3 other system engineers from multicultural backgrounds. You will report to the Lead Risk and System Engineering. 

  • Where you will work: You will mainly be working at our head office in Papendrecht – The Netherlands. In consultation with your manager and your team working partly from home is a possibility. A couple of times a year working from a vessel (abroad) is required.  

  • Full/part-time job: The position of system engineer is a fulltime (40 hours a week).
